2013 Season: Competed in Porsche Carrera Cup, Asian Le Mans Series & the 24 Hours of Le Mans (A first for a Chinese team)
Ho-Pin Tung is a Chinese-Dutch
racing driver who races with a Chinese licence - and has experience
in many of the world's top motor sport series.
Tung began his career in karts in the
Netherlands in 1997. His first major success came when he took the 2003
Formula BMW Asia series title, earning a test drive for the Williams
Formula 1 team. He has followed that with stints as test driver for
BMW-Sauber and Renault.
A switch to Germany's Formula 3 Cup in
2004 brought instant success, with race wins that continued into 2005.
He struck the jackpot when he won the title in 2006, taking nine victories
along the way. Tung has since taken podiums in A1 Grand Prix and GP2
and won a round of the 2009 Superleague Formula series.
We brought Ho-Pin to Indy in 2012 and he was fast. The energy and the excitement was amazing. You could feel a vibe, as if everyone in ASIA was glued to our every step. If it were not for the crash in qualifying I think he would have had a shot to get to the podium. You can bet that only makes Ho-Pin want it more. - Jeff
